Colorado Vignette - Zoo Lights Festival

Zoo Lights is the largest lighting event in the Rocky Mountain Region and the largest annual event hosted by the Denver Zoo. It takes six members of the Denver Zoo staff three months to set up the displays, and an equal amount of time to dismantle them. This popular holiday tradition will run from December 7 thru January 6, 2008, from 5: to 9:pm.

The celebration will shine brightly this year with more than 35 acres of lights and animated sculptures, composed of 90 percent environmentally friendly LED lights.

Festivities will include Visits with Santa (Dec. 7 - Jan. 6), live animal demonstrations (Dec. 15 - 23), Wild Ice (Dec. 26 -30), Celebrate Kawanza (Dec. 31), Zoo New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31). There will be Caroler’s, Instrumental Groups, dancers, the Conservation Carousel and delicious holiday treats at warming stations throughout the zoo.
