Throughout Greece you will find the traditional "taverna" or family-run eating establishment located in the main square or by the harbor. In the afternoon, men drink strong cups of Greek coffee or a little ouzo, enjoy a few mezedes (appetizers) and watch the world pass by. In the evening their family and friends join them to enjoy a late evening meal and a bottle of local wine. Their meal starts with a variety of mezedes served "family style". followed by a traditional casserole, roast lamb or fish, and ends with a tasty honey-drenched desert and coffee. The Greeks have not lost their enjoyment of life's simpler pleasures. The pleasures found at a Greek taverna. Yanni's Greek Taverna follows this tradition with 2nd generation restaurateur Yannie Stavropoulos at the helm. The traditional recipes and life's simpler pleasures have been served up in a gracious family atmosphere, for over 10 years in this neighborhood location. The Moussaka and various lamb dishes are prepared with recipes handed down for generations. The Greek salads and bread are outstanding. You will also find a mouthwatering choice of Pita and Gyros.
Yanni's, located at 2223 South Monaco St. Parkway, is open for dinner every evening and lunch Monday thru Saturday. 303-692-0404 Current Issue | Previous
