In May of 2001, Dorothy and William Sr. Harmsen, founders of the Jolly
Rancher Candy Company and long-time residents of Colorado, donated their
prestigious Harmsen Western Art Collection to the Denver Art Museum.
A Colorado Legacy celebrates this generous gift by showcasing more than
25 of the most significant paintings and American Indian art objects
from the collection. The Harmsens' immense collection of Western and
American Indian art was amassed over a 40 year period of collecting
and includes work by artists including George Catlin, Charles Bird King,

January - May 28 The Denver Art Museum presents China Meets the American
Southwest, Pottery Designs and Traditions. Pottery from opposite sides
of the globe contrasts Native American pieces from the museums collection
with ancient Chinese examples on loan from the Sze Hong Collection.

of Discovery, a dynamic, groundbreaking exhibition that documents centuries

Breckenridge. Sixteen teams from around the world compete in this eye-pleasing
event, creating mammoth works of art from 12-feet-tall, 20-ton blocks
of snow. Well-known artists act as judges for the event, which has brought
sculptors from as far away as Morocco, Belize, Japan, Canada, Scandinavia,

devoted to something Breckenridge does well - having fun! Homage is
paid to the mythical Norse god of winter. Ullr Fest is kicked off by

January 5 - 6, 20 Bud Light Freeride Series in Winter Park. Skier/Boarder
Cross when four competitors go head-to-head down an obstacle course
covered with berms, rollers, table tops, spines, and GS gates. The 1st
and 2nd finishers move on to the next heat and the top three finishers
in each age category receive awards. Separate divisions for snowboarders
and skiers. Cost for the entire series is $120 or $25 for each event.

January 9 - 13 Chevy Truck U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix, Breckenridge the
second stop of this USSA sanctioned snowboard series. The Grand Prix
is one of the most prestigious and richest snowboard circuits in the
